The S.H. Ervin Gallery embraces life‐long learning, offering a variety of opportunities for adult and community groups to engage with our dynamic exhibition program through guided tours and public programs. Enjoy viewing an exhibition, take a tour, have morning tea at the Trust Café and enjoy the vista from historic Observatory Hill ‐ the perfect way to spend a day.

Planning Your Visit

The S.H. Ervin Gallery’s exhibitions focus on contemporary and historical Australian art. Exhibitions change regularly, with each one presenting new opportunities for learning. To get the most out of your visit, please ensure you view the Gallery’s exhibition calendar on our website

Exhibition Tour

Starting with an introduction to the gallery and followed by a comprehensive exploration of the Gallery’s current exhibition, this tour is perfect for community groups, adult education groups, interested groups of friends or school groups.

1 hour, $20, minimum 12, maximum 30 per group

Booking your visit

 At least two weeks notice is required for all group bookings

2. Receive a booking confirmation email or phone call.

Changes and cancellations

Must be made in writing 

Including adjustments to  numbers, dates and times:

  • One change up to two weeks before the scheduled booking – no cost
  • Changes/cancellations within five working days of scheduled booking – original booking charged in full

Opening Hours

We are open from Tuesday to Sunday, 11am – 5pm. Tours are generally available Tuesday to Friday, 10am –11am (before the gallery opens to the public at 11am).  However, by prior arrangement, groups are also welcome to visit the Gallery at other times.

Accessibility

The S.H. Ervin Gallery is fully accessible for all visitors, with ramp access to the building and an accessible toilet. Groups with specific requirements are particularly encouraged to visit. The Gallery is a member of the NSW Companion Card Program and carers/companions are admitted for free. A comprehensive risk assessment form is also available on our website.

Group Leaders

Upon arrival, please report to the Reception desk, situated at the Gallery entrance, to register your group and finalise payment if required. A staff member will meet your group there. Please ensure that your group understand that food and beverages are not permitted in the gallery and that due to copyright reasons photography is not allowed at any time.
